Dear Friends of Dorking Bandstand
We have been very busy since our September newsletter with huge progress made in the last few weeks.
We have:
– confirmed with the council that we have met our pre-operations planning conditions
– drafted the plan for how the bandstand will be managed and run day-to-day
– worked on finalising the bandstand design, structure and costs with the nominated supplier
– discussed the foundations and plinth ground works with interested contractors
– agreed a temporary solution for electrical power for the bandstand. We will make a more permanent solution at a later stage.
Critically, we have signed the 15 year lease between ourselves and MVDC for the land on which the bandstand is to be built.
Accordingly, we have invited a wide range of performers to let us know if they would like to be part of our summer 2026 season of Music in Meadowbank. If you are a performer, would you like to take part? If so do fill in our contact form.
Helping make this happen.
We are seeking your help in four areas.
First, we are looking for benefactors – either individual or corporate – to help fund the final elements of the build and installation. We have done really well on fund raising, and a just need a final push. If you could help, please do get in touch using the contact form on our website.
Secondly, we are looking for sponsors for each of next year’s Music in Meadowbank series. This will allow us to host an incredible summer of music in the park in 2026.
We would also like to hear from groups of all sorts who might wish to perform. There is a separate link on our website in the form to direct your enquiry to the events team.
Finally, next year we will need volunteers to help at each concert. Would you like to help? Please let us know.
We are at a very exciting stage and hope that you can join us in making this tremendous initiative come to fruition for the Dorking community.
