Funding
Thank you for visiting the funding page of the Dorking Community Bandstand.
When the idea of a community bandstand was first suggested, clearly funding was an early concern. Our work and discussions with those who have recently built or renovated bandstands has shown that we needed to raise around £250,000 – £260,000 to cover the design, build and installation costs of the plinth and the bandstand itself and to cover running and maintenance of the structure going forward in the early years.
The money to run the project over the last four and a half years has until now come almost entirely in the form of loans from the trustees.
Funding Sources
As with many projects of this nature we are seeking to raise funds in a variety of ways:
- capital grants from funding bodies
- community events to both raise funds and profile of the project
- individual and corporate donations
- sponsorship of particular events – especially the Music in Meadowbank events on Sunday afternoons
- selective commercial activities and rental for use of the Bandstand
- sale of promotional merchandise and advertising space
We have been successful in achieving most of the money we need through two grants from MVDC and from Your Fund Surrey, but we still need about £25,000 to achieve our target.
If you feel you could help with any of these ideas please do contact us via the bandstand contact form.
